Use actual objects or drawings first, then transition to just numbers. Have your child break 13 into 10 and 3, multiply each part by 2, then add. Repeat this routine weekly with different real scenarios: toy collections, snack portions, or pages to read. This hands-on approach helps the abstract symbols click into place and shows why the strategy matters.
