Many third graders confuse the order of numbers in division, writing 3 ÷ 12 when they mean 12 ÷ 3, especially if they haven't yet internalized the dividend-divisor relationship. Create a "division snack game" at home: give your child a bag of crackers, dried fruit, or cereal and ask them to split portions equally into bowls or containers. This tactile, edible activity makes division concrete and memorable for 8-9 year-olds who are still learning abstract thinking.
