Grade 1 pronouns personal — animals

Students will use personal pronouns (I, me, you, he, she, it, we, they, him, her, us, them) to replace nouns in sentences.

After Q4, pause and act out the watering hole scene together. Ask students to point to the pronoun they chose and say the full sentence aloud. This builds oral fluency with subject pronouns (he, she, they) before students tackle the trickier object pronouns (him, her, them) in Q6 and Q7.

• Leo sees a zebra. Which word can take the place of 'the zebra'? The zebra is tall.
